Why WordPress? Why now?
I’ve been designing print materials since I was fourteen years old. I have a decade of graphic design experience reaching clear back into the cobwebby world of Adobe Pagemaker 5. I love the bricks and mortar aspects of design — Xacto knives and rolls of paper and barrels of ink. My college roommates had to make rules about not SprayMounting in the house. I love a perfect usage of Helvetica as much as just about anything else in the world.
This new media stuff, though, is pretty scary for me. I’ve never had a web class. Never had a photo class. Never learned to make a movie. And I do not like to attempt things I’m not good at.
Why now? Because I’ve resisted long enough. Why WordPress? Because everybody’s gotta start somewhere.
I hope you’ll stick around for the ride. It’ll probably be bumpy, but it will be a lot of fun.
